Analysis of Discursive Practices of Platform Work in the Czech Republic Presented at SASE Conference in Montrealnci SASE v Montrealu

Markéta Švarcová and Alžběta Mangarella presented their research at the SASE Annual Conference 2025 in Montreal. Their contribution, “Independence, flexibility, autonomy? Techno-optimism and digital platform work conditions in the Czech Republic”, focused on working conditions in the digital economy, analyzing promises of autonomy and flexibility and examining how the reality of platform work often contrasts with these expectations. The study mapped discursive practices in the Czech context, explored the perspectives of various stakeholders, and highlighted how platform work is framed within a dominant techno-optimistic discourse.
