Introducing the topic of platform work in News of Czech Television

Members of the research team, Markéta Švarcová and Sabina Vassileva, appeared in a report broadcast on Czech Television’s evening program News, where they presented findings from research focused on the working conditions of people engaged with digital platforms, such as ride-hailing services and courier delivery. In their contribution, they emphasized that platform work is not as flexible as it may initially appear. To earn a decent income, workers must adapt their working hours to the needs of customers and platforms rather than to their own preferences. This type of work, therefore, cannot be considered sustainable due to its working conditions. As Markéta Švarcová pointed out, workers are finding that they must work just as intensively as in other types of employment—if not more—in order to achieve a living wage.
