Researcher Markéta Švarcová spoke at a seminar at the Office of the Government, presenting findings from studies on digital platform work. She highlighted that the flexibility promised by platforms often comes with precarity, algorithmically managed processes, and limited room for negotiation. Women face additional psychosocial risks: isolation, technostress, emotional strain, and uneven pressures related to childcare and household responsibilities. These risks stem from constant adaptation to algorithmically driven demands, lack of social support, and the inability to collectively influence working conditions. Without regulation and gender-sensitive policies, such conditions risk becoming normalized across the broader labor market.
